Joe Bryan

Joe Bryan, the Bristol City left-back, is in huge demand and could become a Tottenham player, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 21-year-old was the man-of-the-match when City defeated Manchester United in the quarter-final of the League Cup and the attacking left-back already has 4 goals to his name this season in the Championship and League Cup. Bryan has been rumoured to be on the list of a number of Premier League clubs with Newcastle United and Everton also keeping tabs on the Englishman.

The report goes on to say that the £7million-rated left-back has been compared to our left-back Danny Rose according to Lee Johnson, the manager of Bristol City. Bryan was also in great form when his side took on Manchester City over two legs in the League Cup semi-final and even though his side lost, the team did showcase their talent against the best side in England.

The club would want to keep hold of their star players as they look for a promotion push and even if they cannot reach the Premier League, there will be a number of suitors waiting in the wings to sign Bryan.

Our New Left-back?

There is no doubt that Bryan has been in great form this season and his performances against both the Manchester clubs would have only increased his stock value. The 24-year-old could be a great signing for just £7million and with Mauricio Pochettino’s history of working with young players and developing them, Bryan could turn out to be a star for the future.

However, all this depends on the future of Danny Rose. If the Englishman decides to leave Tottenham, Bryan can then be seen as the player to step up and provide Ben Davies with the competition.

A lot of time still remains in the season and this should give us enough time to understand how good Bryan is and if he can be the quality player that we need. Signing players who don’t cost big might be the right way for us to go ahead, given our new stadium construction and maybe, we will hit gold with the Bristol City left-back.

  1. He is 24. I can’t see us signing a 24 year old UK player from a lower division. Someone like Ryan Sessegnon is far more likely, as although he will be a lot more expensive, we can develop him more at 17.
