Tottenham Hotspur are set to hold further talks with European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain as they look to seal the deal for winger Lucas Moura, as per reports from The Telegraph

The 25-year old has emerged as a top target for the North London outfit in the January transfer window and the club are determined to complete his signing before the transfer deadline day on Wednesday. As a result, they are set to step up the pace of the negotiations with Les Parisiens over the next 48 hours to reach a solution.

It is no secret that our manager Mauricio Pochettino has been trying to bring in a winger to the club for quite some time now. While the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are brilliant in their own rights, the team does lack some serious pace down the flanks and that is something that the gaffer has been on keen on addressing.

To that end, we have been linked with Lucas. It was reported earlier this week that Spurs had shown Lucas around their training base, which left the player quite impressed.

However, the deal is far from complete as yet, with negotiations between Tottenham and PSG still some way off from reaching a conclusion. But we can take away some positives from the fact that the Brazilian international was left out of PSG’s squad that faced Montpellier on Saturday in the Ligue 1.

The 25-year old has been on the fringes of the PSG team this season, following the French club’s mega-money acquisitions of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer. As a result, he has made just a meagre 6 appearances across all competitions, in which he has managed a solitary goal and an assist.

Despite his lack of playing time, Lucas’ quality is undoubted and he will only take our team to a whole new level if he is signed. Bringing him in would add an alternate dimension to our attacking play, with his pace and natural flair down the flank and would make us an even more dangerous unit.

It is understood that Lucas is likely to cost us somewhere in the range of £22million and if the club manage to get the deal done before the window closes, that would prove to be a great coup given the current state of affairs in the transfer market.
