Tottenham interested in €30million Bundesliga left-back with 10 assists this season

Tottenham have been in the market for a left-back, ever since Danny Rose claimed that he would want to move to a Manchester club. Even though we have played the Englishman in the Premier League and other competitions, a report from SportBild (h/t Sport Witness) is claiming that we are one of the clubs interested in Philipp Max.

The 24-year-old has played in 21 Bundesliga games for Augsburg this season and has 10 assists to his name, apart from a solitary goal, which is a great return for any full-back. The German is known for his ability to cross and is a threat in all dead-ball situations. So it should come as no surprise that we want the player, given our propensity to attack with our full-backs.

The report claims that Max wants to move away from the Bundesliga to test himself in the Premier League. The 24-year-old is garnering the interest of RB Leipzig too but he wants to try his luck outside Germany and that might be a positive for us.

Is Max The Right Player For Us?

Max might be playing for Augsburg but he is turning a lot of heads in Germany and it should not be a surprise if a tug of war for his signature ignites at the start of next season. The 24-year-old will get better with time and that could be one reason why we are interested in the player. Mauricio Pochettino has a great record of working with players with potential and Max is one of the brightest stars in the Bundesliga at the moment.

The German would provide quality competition to Rose and Ben Davies, depending on which player remains at the club and since he would be coming in from Germany, he would not be all that expensive either. The report suggests that the Bundesliga club want at least €30m for the young left-back, which would be a steal based on his potential and current ability.

It would be great to see the youngster in action at our new stadium next season but there is a long way to go before any such deal takes place.
