“North London is white” Tottenham fans on cloud nine after derby win vs Arsenal

Harry Kane’s second-half header proved decisive as Tottenham Hotspur moved up to 3rd in the Premier League with a 1-0 North London derby win over Arsenal at Wembley. The Tottenham striker scored his 7th goal in 7 Premier League games against Arsenal, piling more misery on Arsene Wenger.

After a breathless first quarter, Arsenal managed to slow the game down. They were guilty of wasting several promising breaks with poor final passes. Spurs also had their moments when Kane had a header stopped by Petr Cech, while Eric Dier failed to connect properly with a loose ball inside the area.

But the hosts took the lead in the derby shortly after the break when Kane leapt superbly to meet a mouthwatering Ben Davies cross to put it beyond Cech. A couple of minutes later, it could have been two had Kane not missed a free header inside the penalty area.

However, the England international remained on course to double his and the team’s tally when he stung the Arsenal goalkeeper’s palms with a rasping volley, before Christian Eriksen’s free-kick was denied. Wenger threw Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mohamed Elneny after 64 minutes with a hope to see his team make a comeback in the game.

Instead, Arsenal were on the receiving end with Cech first denying substitute Erik Lamela.

Arsenal tried to put some pressure on their rivals in the final few minutes. Aubameyang once more got in behind only to be flagged offside, before substitute Lacazette volleyed way over in the injury-time.

Delighted after the team won the North London bragging rights, here is how our fans reacted on Twitter.
