Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Nice’s Jean Michael Seri in the summer after the club had reportedly sent the scouts a few times to check in on the midfielder and his progress this season. Spurs might face some tough competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, who are also interested in the Ivorian, with Jose Mourinho targeting a midfielder at the end of this season.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked to Barcelona last year but the move failed to materialise. However, as per London.Football, Seri could be available in summer for a fee in the range of €40million.

Seri had starred for Nice last season with his fantastic displays in the heart of the midfield. Although he has blown hot and cold this season, there is no doubting the player’s qualities on the ball.

A dominant presence in the midfield, the Ivory Coast international makes Nice tick as a unit with his all-round abilities. He is often deployed as a deep-lying playmaker due to his creativity and inventiveness and also keeps the ability to play anywhere in midfield.

Strong in possession and very witty with the ball, Seri is a midfield dictator with good passing abilities. Solid, robust and athletic, the midfielder possesses a silky touch and loves spreading the play with his eye-catching crossing skills.

Spurs are on the lookout for a midfielder, capable of replacing Mousa Dembele. Dembele, a workhorse in the mould of a midfield destroyer, has entered the 30’s and should realistically serve high-quality football for few more years in the Premier League.

The Belgian was the star for Spurs in the 2-2 draw against Juventus on Tuesday. The way he ran the show, cutting past the Juventus midfielders with ease and poise was something of a delight to watch. Dembele bullied Sami Khedira to a certain extent that the German went entirely missing in the second-half.

There is a case for Mauricio Pochettino to start looking out at a like-for-like Dembele replacement, as the Belgian has started to show signs of slowing down.

While the former Fulham man may still be able to play the role of a midfield general for Pochettino’s side, he has suffered some injury issues this season which has somewhat forced the Spurs manager to take extra precautions of his midfielder.

Spurs representatives were spotted keeping tabs on Seri during Nice’s Europa League game against Lokomotiv Moscow Thursday, report French outlet SFR (h/t Sport Witness).

A move for Seri in the summer makes clear sense. The Ivorian is a special mix of skill and creativity and would be an ideal signing for Spurs.
