Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is set to snub Manchester United for Tottenham Hotspur in summer, according to Spanish news outlet Diario Gol.

The Welshman is reportedly set to leave Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season with Real expected to undergo a massive squad overhaul following their struggles in La Liga this campaign.

Bale has been widely tipped to move to Old Trafford but Diario Gol report that the winger has changed his mind following United’s awful show against Sevilla on Tuesday in the Champions League that has put Jose Mourinho’s future under immense scrutiny.

Diario Gol further adds that Bale has now shifted his focus from United and wants to make a return to Tottenham as he thinks we are capable of challenging the Red Devils on all fronts.

The 28-year-old has endured an injury-hit campaign at the Bernabeu that has seen him slip down the pecking order. As a result, the Wales international has found game time hard to come by and has often been overlooked by manager Zinedine Zidane for Real’s big games.

However, speaking after dumping PSG out of the Champions League, Zidane indicated that Bale is still vital to his plans until at least the end of the season.

“The most important thing is the squad and the players,” Zidane was quoted by the Express.

“I respect all the players – Gareth Bale too. It’s true he started on the bench in the first leg and tonight as well, but it doesn’t matter. I have to choose players and Gareth is a really important player and will be until the end.”

Regardless of Zidane’s statements, the Diario Gol claims Real are expected to sell Bale after the conclusion of this season.

The forward reportedly preferred to move to Old Trafford but their topsy-turvy campaign has seen him rethink before making a final decision. However, Diario Gol claims Bale is still weeks away from making a final decision on his future.
