According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport (h/t talkSPORT), Inter Milan are working on a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela at the end of the season.
The Argentine recently returned to the Tottenham squad after a lengthy injury layoff and is finding it difficult to establish himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI, despite gaining full fitness. Lamela is trying his level best to recapture his old form.
The report claims that the Italian club wants to sign a winger in the summer with Lamela being their priority target. Inter are interested in adding more creative players to their squad and Lamela has emerged as a viable target for the club ahead of the summer transfer window, reports Tuttosport (h/t talkSPORT).
The Argentina international is no stranger to the Serie A, having spent a couple of years at AS Roma where he scored 15 goals in his final season. During Lamela’s time at Roma, Luciano Spalletti – now the current head coach of Inter, was at the helm of I Giallorossi.
After moving to Tottenham, Lamela initially faced difficulties in adjusting to the Premier League. After settling down completely, the winger became one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier League before a hip injury in 2016 ruled him out for a year.
Now back to full fitness, Lamela faces competition for a spot in Spurs’ starting XI due to the club’s rich options in attacking areas.
