Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the media ahead of Tottenham’s clash against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. Our manager shed light extensively on a number of issues and even touched upon our injury concerns with Mousa Dembele.

Pochettino was quick to add that the club needs to assess the Belgian and there still is a chance he could face the relegation-threatened side.

Poch was quoted by Football.London and he even added the extent of the injury for the midfielder.

“We need to assess him today because we are going to train now. It’s not clear whether he will be fit or not. But I think we need to wait until after the training and see if he’s in a condition to be part of the team or squad tomorrow. Still we need to assess him.”

The manager further added that the midfielder would surely be playing in our next game against Newcastle, which takes place in midweek.

“He twisted his ankle. It’s not a big issue but it’s so close from Monday’s game. We need to assess today. If it’s not possible tomorrow then for sure he’ll be available for Wednesday and the weekend.”

The manager did not speak about any other injuries and that will come as huge relief to the fans. While we have another season where we don’t win a trophy, there is some work that needs to be done before the end of the season.

We need to get as many points as possible as Chelsea seem to have a good chance of making it into the top four but if we win all our games, we will finish ahead of Liverpool and claim the third place.

Incidentally, the Blues will be facing Liverpool over the weekend and we can put pressure on both clubs if we win the game against West Brom.

There will be a lot of tension before the season ends as Harry Kane is also looking to overhaul Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot and hopefully, our striker does enough to claim it ahead of the Liverpool man.
