Liverpool’s loss could be Tottenham’s gain in Champions League seeding as Spurs will be in pot 2

Liverpool’s 3-1 loss at the hands of Real Madrid might have helped Tottenham ahead of next season’s Champions League.

While we could not make it all the way to the final, we did defeat Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the group stages but were knocked out by Juventus.

The Reds losing in the final could give us a favourable draw ahead of next season as we could be placed in Pot 2, taking Madrid’s place in the Pot.

The Spanish side won the Champions League for the third time in a row under Zinedine Zidane and would now be put in Pot 1.

That opens up a spot in Pot 2 and we might just make it to that position, while Liverpool could end up in the tougher Pot 3, something that we had to deal with last season.

The lower pots end up getting tougher groups such as the one we had last season with Dortmund and Madrid joining us in the group this season.

This isn’t the best news for the Reds after a lot of hope ahead of the final as they are the lowest placed English team in next season’s competition.

Manchester City are going to be placed in Pot 1 as they are Premier League champions while Manchester United could be in Pot 2 since they finished second in the league. Pot 1 would also feature Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG, Juventus, Lokomotiv Moscow and Porto.

Pot 2, which could be ours, will feature Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Napoli, Basel and Manchester United.

Hopefully, us finishing in third place and Liverpool losing the final will lead us to an easier group stage. We will be playing in our new stadium too and winning some silverware would be the perfect way to celebrate moving to a new stadium.
