As per a report by Evening Standard, it looks like Tottenham Hotspur have received a major stumbling block in their pursuit of Ryan Sessegnon. Fulham have managed to secure a promotion to the Premier League, meaning Spurs will be unable to use the top-flight card to lure the youngster.
With Fulham owner Shahid Khan attempting to buy Wembley stadium, which was our home ground last season, it could be tough for us to convince the teenage sensation to join us.
Evening Standard also states that Khan has come out and affirmed that Sessegnon is not for sale for this summer. Furthermore, the report sheds light on the fact that our owner, Daniel Levy, might have to compete with Khan to secure an NFL franchise in London.
In such a situation, it seems highly unlikely for the club to even consider a deal and that is unfortunate, given the kind of potential Sessegnon boasts of.
He played a crucial role in the Cottagers’ ascent to the top-flight and it will be interesting to watch him play in the Premier League next term.
His versatility on the left-hand side has seen him play as a defender, a midfielder and as a winger and Sessegnon is particularly known for his pacy performances. He is also quite generous when it comes to scoring goals and providing assists and if he continues playing this way, it goes without saying that he has a bright future ahead of him.
However, for now, Tottenham will have to abandon their hopes of acquiring his signature.
