According to a report by The Independent, Tottenham Hotspur could enjoy an upper hand when it comes to signing Gareth Bale. His departure to Real Madrid did not bode well for a lot of fans but it looks like we have a solid chance of bringing him back to North London this summer.

We would all be aware of Bale’s icy words after the Champions League victory against Liverpool where he clearly stated that he will consider his future and talk to his agent about the same.

The Independent credits both Manchester United and Tottenham with an interest in the pacy winger but it further claims that Bale would be willing to take a pay cut to move to Spurs.

To be fair, we cannot afford to offer him the same wages that Real are offering and as per The Independent, United are also having second thoughts about doing that, given his age. But if Bale is willing to receive relatively lower wages and move back to Tottenham, it could be a great move for us.

Over the course of last season, Mauricio Pochettino largely relied on the likes of Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son to patrol the wings but Bale’s inclusion will certainly give us extra power up front.

His performance in the Champions League final clinched the victory for Los Blancos and we could certainly use a gamechanger like him as we look to win trophies in the seasons to come.

The report also claims that Tottenham might offer Bale around £200,000-a-week including bonuses, which is what Harry Kane receives right now. With that said, it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy is able to work his magic and secure a return for the Welshman.
