Boost for Tottenham as out-of-favour star is unlikely to leave Spurs for Everton this summer

A few days back, The Sun had claimed that Everton are harbouring an interest in out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose. The Toffees are enduring a massive shift in their management and have appointed Marco Silva after sacking Sam Allardyce.

Now that Silva has taken over, it goes without saying that signing a left-back will be a priority for the Merseyside outfit. Leighton Baines is on the wrong side of 30 and according to The Sun, Rose was a prime target for Everton this summer.

But a new report from Daily Mail has stated that Everton will instead pursue Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt since Rose is “unlikely” to leave Tottenham and move to Goodison Park.

This does come as a surprise considering Rose’s current situation with Tottenham. Injuries and a lack of form prevented him from playing regularly last season and Ben Davies’ influence at left-back didn’t help his case either.

In fact, prior to the commencement of the summer transfer window, it was widely speculated that Rose would leave Tottenham but as suggested by Daily Mail, it looks like the player is not too keen about a potential deal with Everton.

If Rose stays back at Tottenham beyond the end of this summer, it remains to be seen if he will receive as many opportunities under Mauricio Pochettino. On the flipside, in case we do not sign a new left-back now, keeping hold of Rose might not be a bad thing.
