Tottenham’s hopes of signing Manchester United forward Anthony Martial were given a huge boost as the player’s agent came out and stated that the Frenchman wants to leave his current club.

Martial is not a part of the French World Cup squad in Russia and his agent, Philippe Lamboley, added that the forward has “the choice” over which club could be his next destination.

Lamboley was quoted by RMC Sport (h/t Daily Star) as saying:

“After reflecting carefully on all the possibilities and all the parameters, Anthony has decided he wants to leave Manchester United.”

The agent did not state the reasons as to why the 22-year-old was seeking a move away from Old Trafford but added that Martial would discuss all this at a later time.

Lamboley also claimed that it was important for Martial to enjoy his football.

“The only thing I can say is that many coaches appreciate his profile and that many clubs want to show their projects to Anthony.

“Today, this is not the most important question. Anthony just wants to play, find pleasure, feeling with the coach will be essential.”

Tottenham have been linked with a deal to bring the French forward to London as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add more firepower to the attack. He was reportedly our top target for the summer.

The latest comments from Lamboley certainly sends out a message or two regarding what Martial wants in his next destination.

Spurs do play a fantastic brand of attacking football and are one of the best clubs in England. We also have a great manager in Pochettino and the Argentine knows how to get the best out of his players.

Hopefully, United do not charge us a bomb for Martial and the deal can be wrapped quickly as the star isn’t playing in Russia.
