Croatia star Mateo Kovacic is ready to quit Real Madrid as he wants more playing time according to reports from Spain.
“I want to play more and the best thing is to leave Madrid. I love football and being on the pitch, I want the opportunity to be a starter for another team. If I do not play, I’m not happy.”
The 24-year-old was linked with a move to Tottenham last season but a deal could not be finalised for the midfielder. Kovacic has made a couple of appearances in the World Cup from the bench and has a release clause which is stated to be €50million.
While Real have been winning numerous titles, Kovacic has not been able to break into the starting XI and most of his appearances last season came from the bench.
This could come as great news for us given that we are in the market for a midfielder as Mousa Dembele has spoken about moving to a club outside of England if he is to leave Tottenham.
Kovacic plays a deeper role in midfield and has a great passing range, so he would fit our team perfectly. The Croatian is only 24 and even if his release clause is a little high, he would be a wonderful option to have in the team.
Croatia are also having a great World Cup, so Real would want to get the entire €50million for the 24-year-old but it would be good money spent if we can get the best out of him.
