Tottenham are in a battle with two other Premier League clubs for the signature of Moussa Marega from FC Porto according to The Sun (h/t Daily Star).

The report claims that the 27-year-old striker will be allowed to leave the Portuguese champions but only if a club is willing to splash €40m to meet the release clause in his contract.

Marega was in great form for Porto, who he led to the title last season, as he scored 22 times and provided 4 assists in the league.

The 27-year-old Malian had spoken earlier about leaving the club and taking the next step and had also stated that the Premier League is a competition that he likes.

The two other clubs interested in signing the striker are our London rivals Chelsea and West Ham United. We have been in the hunt for another striker for a while as we look to take the goalscoring burden off our star striker Harry Kane.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for another striker in Alassane Plea and it seems we are keeping our options open should the Marega deal fall through.

Plea is 25 while Marega is 27, however, Marega could be a better option given that he also has Champions League experience and seems to be a more physical player.

There is no doubt that we need another striker in the side next season and Marega could be the option off the bench to turn things around for us when we need to change the game.
