AS Roma are looking to make a move for Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica (h/t The Mirror).

The report claims that the Italian club had marked Steven N’Zonzi as their first choice in the summer window. However, the French midfielder is more interested in a return to the Premier League rather than moving to Italy (h/t The Mirror).

Wanyama had his issues with injuries last season as the Mirror added that the 27-year-old missed four months due to his fitness troubles. The former Southampton man only played 18 Premier League games for us last season, with eight starts to his name.

The Mirror adds that Wanyama is still sidelined with an injury and there is some concern for Tottenham as the future of Mousa Dembele isn’t clear either.

The Belgian has been linked with a move away from Spurs, however, the Mirror claims that both midfielders will not be sold in the summer.

When Wanyama is fit, he is a beast in our midfield but injuries really cut down his playing time for us last season.

It will be important to see just how his rehabilitation goes with his current injury as the Premier League is just a few days away. The Kenyan also has three years left on his current deal with Spurs.
