Former Tottenham star believes Spurs can win trophies this season

Former Tottenham winger Jermaine Jenas

Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas has stated that Tottenham have to start winning trophies in order to keep hold of their stars.

The BT Sports pundit was speaking to Yahoo Sport and stated:

“At some point, Tottenham have to start winning trophies and I would suggest that moment has to be this season.

“Top managers and top players need to have their ambitions satisfied or they will look to move on and while Spurs are in a fortunate position to have people like Pochettino and Kane, who will not jump at the first big offer that comes their way, that loyalty will not last forever.”

The former Spurs man also highlighted examples of two other players, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. Jenas also wanted the club to find a way to back Pochettino so that the Argentine can take the club to the next level.

Jenas believes that the next step for the Argentine manager would be a tough one. Pochettino has taken Tottenham to the Champions League in each of the last three seasons, something that would have been tough to imagine a few years ago.

Jenas concluded by claiming that the best offers and jobs are still available for Pochettino and Kane. However, he still believes that the pair can do something special with this Tottenham side that has been built.

“They have the ability to go on and achieve something historic with this Tottenham side and that must appeal because they have started this project and it would be great to finish it together as winners.”
