Schalke are not looking to sign Danny Rose, according to Sky Sports. The Bundesliga side were linked with loan moves for him and Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek but the report says they only want to sign a left-back.
The club have a budget of €7m to fulfil their left-back requirement. The report further adds that the Royal Blues are not looking at a loan signing at all and want a permanent left-back.
Rose was a part of the England World Cup squad but was not our No.1 left-back last season as Ben Davies had taken over that role.
The English defender was a player that Tottenham were willing to let go of in the transfer window but the report adds that the left-back has been deemed as too expensive by the Bundesliga giants.
The transfer window is still open for Premier League clubs to sell to other leagues.
Rose might not be a starter for us, as Davies started in our 2-1 win over Newcastle United but we should be looking to keep him given that we don’t have a lot of quality cover for the left-back slot.
The English defender might have had his injury concerns last season but losing him now without having a replacement could come back to bite us later in the season.

Rose was a decent defender under Mauricio Pochettino a couple of years ago and there is no reason why he cannot do a job for us this season.
