Moussa Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko certainly seems to be getting better with each game under his belt this season. The Frenchman has had a tough time since his move from Newcastle in 2016, but Mauricio Pochettino believes the midfielder’s hard work is finally paying off.

Sissoko started in our 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, making it five starts in a row for the 29-year-old.

Pochettino was quoted by the Independent as he lauded the hard work put in by players:

“Sometimes different players need a different amount of time to produce performances in the way that you want.

“But by being honest, professional and always giving your best you can turn the opinion of the people. Quality is so important in football. But quality without effort, being professional and fighting for the team makes it difficult for a player to show that quality.”

The Frenchman has been linked (h/t Independent) with moves away from Tottenham, but now seems to be a regular for Spurs.

Pochettino claimed many players have performed better after being linked with exits. The Tottenham manager praised the midfielder’s tenacity and professionalism.

“But good thing can happen if you are a professional like Moussa and keep pushing and working hard. Sometimes when you feel the pain you keep your head up, keep pushing and keep working hard, that is the only way to get through it.”

Spurs didn’t sign any players in the summer window, and truth be told, it was tough to picture Sissoko receiving many games for the club this season.

However, the Frenchman has certainly put in some quality performances in the previous weeks, and the only thing missing in his game is goals.
