Tottenham face three crucial ties in the next 10 days or so which might decide what the rest of the season entails for us.
It is a little concerning that our European and Premier League adventures might be decided in a span of three games, but that is the price we are paying for some results early on in the season.
Losses against Watford, Liverpool and Manchester City have hit us hard, despite picking up nine wins from 12 Premier League games.
The situation in the Champions League is even worse as we have just four points from our opening four games in the group.
Big games coming up for Spurs
Tottenham play Chelsea, Inter Milan and then Arsenal, and these three games could decide how the rest of the season goes.
Spurs are five points behind Manchester City in the Premier League, and anything less than wins against our London rivals could see us end up 11 points behind the Cityzens.
City have only dropped points against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, and are yet to taste defeat in the league.
Tottenham couldn’t really match the Cityzens in our clash a few weeks ago, and our game against the Blues won’t be easy too.
Chelsea haven’t lost under Maurizio Sarri. Not in the league, not in the cup, not in the Europa League. Granted the Europa League has seen them face easy teams, the Blues still drew with Liverpool and did well to beat Arsenal early on.
Arsenal, who we play next weekend, are doing pretty well despite starting under a new manager. The Gunners are just three points behind us in the league table and will play at the Emirates next weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino has to be smart with his team selection as the game against Inter is just four days after the Chelsea one.
Our Champions League campaign was always going to be difficult thanks to our group featuring Barcelona and Inter Milan.
However, not many would have expected us to be in this poor a position. Losing to Inter away was especially hard after we had taken the lead in the game.
While giving up the lead to PSV away was another bitter pill to swallow. Barcelona picking up a win at Wembley wasn’t that big a deal, to be honest, as the Catalans were the favourites for the group.
We were unbeaten in our group against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund but this season has been another learning for Mauricio Pochettino and his men.
The campaign hasn’t even hit the New Year but our Champions League and Premier League hopes rest on these three games.
Pochettino knows how to get the best out of the players in crunch situations, and with most of our players back to fitness, we could finally hit our stride and make a real fist of the season.
