“We will go all guns blazing now” – Tottenham star urges team to attack more ahead of huge clash against Barcelona

Tottenham are still alive in the Champions League after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Inter Milan at Wembley.

The win lifts us above the Italians in the group but our rivals have it easier in their final game. Inter face PSV Eindhoven in Italy while we travel to Spain and face Barcelona.

Tottenham had a few chances to score more than the one goal, and Harry Kane spoke about one moment which kept us in the tie.

Hugo Lloris made an excellent save from Ivan Perisic when it was 0-0, and the England captain added conditions weren’t the best on the Wembley pitch (h/t Daily Mail):

“The clean sheet was massive.

“It was tough out there. The pitch wasn’t great but we’re getting used to it. We played well though. We played out from the back, through the lines. We could have had a couple in the first half.”

Tottenham know it will be tough against Barcelona but the Catalans have already qualified for the next round of the competition.

Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min of Tottenham

The striker didn’t score in our win over Inter but wanted the team to attack Barcelona when we face them.

“We will go all guns blazing now. It will be tough, but it is all to play for.”

Tottenham suffered a 4-2 loss to the Catalans in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, but Barcelona could rest some key players in the tie which would be great for our chances.

Latest Spurs news: Tottenham move into Champions League Pot 2 thanks to Serie A results

Tottenham have been handed a boost in the upcoming Champions League season as with a spot in Pot 2, according to Football.london.

The report claims that AS Roma’s failure to finish in the Champions League places on the last day of the Serie A campaign helped Spurs achieve the place in the Pots.

Roma won their final game of the season but that was cancelled out by wins for Atalanta and AC Milan, with the latter pair finishing third and fourth respectively.

The Rome side would have been placed above us in the Pots had they made it into the Champions League. Roma have a better coefficient than us (h/t Football.london) and also reached the semi-finals of the competition last season.

Spurs’ group could be easier next time

Moving into Pot 2 should give us a relatively easier group than the last two seasons.

Tottenham have been placed in tough groups which have included Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund in the previous two campaigns.

We have proved our mettle in Europe by making it out of the tough groups, and this season has been incredible thanks to our run to the final.

The report adds that Tottenham could also move to Pot 1 of the Champions League as a place is reserved for the winners.

Latest Spurs news: Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham have their name on Champions League trophy

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes that Spurs have their name on the Champions League trophy.

Spurs face Liverpool in the final on 1 June, and the Reds are slight favourites given than they beat us twice in the Premier League this season.

However, Tottenham’s Champions League campaign has been crazy. There have been late goals in several games and we produced an epic comeback to defeat Ajax in Amsterdam 3-2 to reach the final.

Redknapp also spoke about the fantastic games we have had this season as he believes Spurs will win the Champions League (h/t Daily Mail):

“You just get the feeling that Tottenham have got their name on the trophy.

“They’ve gone through when they looked like going out in the knockout stages, last-minute goals in other games got them through.”

Redknapp expects a great game

Liverpool have a great attacking trio but Redknapp believes that a fit Harry Kane can create problems with the other players we have in the attack.

Son Heung-min has been excellent in recent weeks while Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick in the win over Ajax.

The Englishman did not believe the final would be a dull game due to the attacking nature of both teams.

Tottenham might have finished way behind Liverpool in the league table but nothing can be taken for granted in a final.

Spurs have the quality to defeat Liverpool and should we have a fit Kane back for the final, Mauricio Pochettino might be celebrating his first trophy at Spurs.

Spurs transfer news: Leeds United want £20m for English winger Jack Clarke

The Sunday People (h/t Daily Star) reports that Leeds United want £20m for 19-year-old winger Jack Clarke.

The teen had a great season for Leeds after breaking into the side, but the team had to deal with disappointment as they missed out on Premier League promotion.

Jack Clarke

Jack Clarke

Leeds failed to reach the final of the play-offs, and the report claims that Tottenham are interested in the 19-year-old Clarke.

The report adds that the player falls into Tottenham’s transfer strategy of signing quality young English talent.

Clarke was also named as Leeds’ Young Player of the Season despite only making four starts in the Championship.

The 19-year-old made 25 appearances in all competitions under Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds will be hurting post their failure to reach the Premier League.

Pochettino to use his links with Bielsa?

Mauricio Pochettino has a great relationship with the Leeds manager and that could work in our favour as we look to make some signings in the summer.

Pochettino has done well with young players throughout his career and we could do with some a winger joining us in the transfer window.

Erik Lamela has spent a lot of time injured this season while we could use some cover for Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura.

Clarke isn’t the finished article yet and could improve further under someone like Pochettino.

Latest Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino hints at staying at Tottenham beyond the Champions League final

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted at staying at the club beyond the Champions League final.

The Wanda Metropolitano hosts the Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool on 1 June, and the manager claimed he could quit the club if Spurs lifted the title (h/t Mirror).

However, the Argentine dropped a major hint of staying beyond the final as he spoke about the next chapter post the Champions League (h/t Mirror).

“There were two different feelings mixed in the same moment after the semi-final.

“Reaching the Champions League final is the end of an amazing chapter for the club. But, at the same time, the moment you reach the final, it’s like, ‘I want to be involved in the next chapter of the club’.”

Spurs need to take the next step

Pochettino has done an excellent job so far since joining from Southampton, but our spending in recent seasons has not matched that of the top teams in the Premier League.

Spurs didn’t sign a single player in two windows, yet we are set to play our biggest European game in decades.

Tottenham have to spend in the summer and strengthen a side that has seen several injuries hit them this season.

It is difficult to imagine any other manager doing as great a job in a similar condition as Pochettino has, and we have to keep the Argentine for the coming years.
