Lucas Moura celebrates for Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino should thank his stars as Tottenham qualified for the knockout round of the Champions League, but they did it the hard way.

Spurs needed to defeat Barcelona to guarantee qualification but anything less than that, and we would depend on Inter Milan’s result against PSV Eindhoven.

The Catalans fielded a much-changed XI but took the lead with Ousmane Dembele scoring a great goal. Tottenham had their chances to score but could not get past Jasper Cillessen.

Philippe Coutinho could have done more damage to Spurs but saw two efforts come off the post.

Things did not look bleak for us as PSV were leading, surprisingly, at the San Siro. However, Mauro Icardi equalised for the Serie A giants in the final quarter of the game.

It looked set for Spurs to play in the Europa League but up stepped Lucas Moura to score our equaliser in the 85th minute.

We had to wait a bit before confirmation of the result at Inter, and surely enough, there were jubilant scenes at the Nou Camp.

Tottenham had made it through by the skin of their teeth, and some fans thanked PSV and Hirving Lozano for the goal that killed Inter’s chances of qualifying.
