Jan Vertonghen Tottenham

Tottenham have exercised their one-year option to extend Jan Vertonghen’s deal till 2020, a club release confirmed.

Vertonghen joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2012, and has formed a formidable partnership alongside Toby Alderweireld in the heart of our defence.

The Belgian is one of the best defenders in the Premier League and will be a Tottenham player till 2020.

The 31-year-old’s season has been hit hard by injuries and he last played for us in the 1-1 draw against Barcelona.

Vertonghen has been rock solid for us at the back, except for that North London derby sending off, and played in only 12 games in all competitions.

Some Tottenham fans were delighted at the news of the extension while others wanted the club to sign him on a longer deal, as they feared losing him.
