Rant of the day: Why Tottenham’s press officer was right in shutting down the reporter questioning Pochettino about Man United

Manchester United sacking their manager has thrown us into the deep end of the conversation of Mauricio Pochettino’s future. Several outlets are claiming that the Argentine is the man wanted at Old Trafford. The manager has had to deflect hundreds of questions that people keep asking him.

In the last pre-match press conference, our press officer took a stand against a Sky Sports reporter who was going to ask the same question that was more or less asked a couple of days ago.

The officer had to cut in repeatedly to ensure he drove his point home and Pochettino also joked about how the officer could become the star of the conference.

The stance might have seemed rude at first, but the decision taken by the club/officer is the right one. This was a press conference for Pochettino to talk about our upcoming clash against Everton and not about his future.

The last thing we need is for some quotes to be taken out of context and a big story being made out of it. Our manager has always put up a dignified presence in front of the press and we don’t need the attention deflected away from our man and our team.

Had the officer allowed for similar questioning, the outcome of the presser would have been related to Manchester United rather than on the game ahead.

The officer set a precedent and hopefully, this will end similar questioning from the eager media for the months ahead.

Additionally, this will allow the team, the manager and the rest to concentrate on Tottenham alone.

This side is on the verge of achieving something great this season. We are currently third in the Premier League but we have shown the grit and determination to claw back from tough situations. The Champions League is the perfect example of us coming through adversity.

Furthermore, Spurs are in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, and there is more than a chance of us making it to the final when we face Chelsea.

Manchester United have their problems, and we don’t need some of them being pushed our way. This is a Tottenham side on the rise under Pochettino, and the best thing would be to concentrate on the season ahead.

We are almost halfway through the campaign and there is a lot of belief in the side. Pochettino has worked wonders with no money in the summer window and if we are to talk about anything, it should be our new stadium or plans for some players coming in.

United should be the last thing on the minds of the players, the management and Pochettino. Hopefully, we keep things that way for the rest of the season.
