Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has finally received a medal after we won the League Cup in 2008 (h/t Sky Sports).
Spurs defeated Chelsea 2-1 in the final, thanks to goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Jonathan Woodgate. Defoe played a few games in the tournament but was sold to Portsmouth in January.
His former Spurs teammates got the job done against the Blues and the Englishman is now worried his mother might take the medal away (h/t Sky Sports):
“It’s unique and I am sure my mum is going to take this off of me like she normally does, put in the cabinet somewhere.
“And when you finish playing, you look back at these things and reflect, even not playing in the final, I remember every game.”
The former striker further spoke about his time at Spurs being great and believed the side were unlucky not to win more. This current Spurs team is just as good if not better than the one in 2008, but we have to win something soon.
Tottenham are in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and face Chelsea over two legs. We have made it into the knockout rounds of the Champions League too. This season is a fantastic opportunity for us to win a trophy and the current Tottenham side deserves to win one.
