Tottenham have held talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over a deal for German midfielder Jonas Hofmann, according to Bild (h/t Evening Standard).
The 26-year-old plays as a central midfielder and has been amongst the goals for the Bundesliga giants. Hofmann has scored five goals and has three assists to his name from 12 Bundesliga games this season.
The report adds that the player’s contract ends in 2020 but the German has a history of picking up long-term injuries.
Spurs didn’t sign any players in the summer, and it is to be seen if we are looking to spend in the January window.
We could do with some quality additions to the side and Hofmann is a Bundesliga veteran. The 26-year-old would provide a lot of cover to our midfield, and we are a little light on options in the middle at the moment.
Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier have injury problems at the moment, and we recently sold Mousa Dembele to a Chinese Super League side.
Hofmann could be a decent signing for the club but the midfield isn’t the only area of concern for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham also have problems in their attack with Harry Kane out for a couple of months while Son Heung-min is away on international duty at the Asian Cup.

Spurs need to get back to winning ways after their loss to Manchester United, and we face a relatively easier task on Sunday against Fulham.
