Former Fulham defender and current Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior believes Tottenham have to spend in the winter window or risk their top-four spot.
Spurs lie third in the Premier League but have been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks. Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura are carrying minor knocks, but Harry Kane and Dele Alli are out till March.
Tottenham also sold Mousa Dembele in the January window, and it is unlikely that we will see any incomings before the end of the month.
Rosenior was speaking on the Debate (h/t Sky Sports) and also warned us about the threat carried by a rejuvenated Manchester United side:
“They have to bring someone in this month if they want to win a trophy or stay in the top-four race.
“Manchester United are coming up hot on the rails. Chelsea and Arsenal are going through difficult moments but they will be there, so Spurs need to bring someone in.”
The former Fulham defender was worried about our defence, especially Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian struggled in the win over Fulham and Rosenior believed we had to stick with Fernando Llorente, even though he wasn’t great against the Cottagers.
Rosenior makes valid points but it would be a miracle if we sign someone before the window ends. Son Heung-min is away on Asian Cup duty, and the latest he would return is in the start of February.
The South Korean returning would be a huge boost for us, and hopefully, we come out unscathed as our starts return from their injuries.
