Tottenham have been boosted by reports that Real Madrid will not bid for Christian Eriksen in the summer.
The Daily Star reports that the Dane has been linked with the La Liga giants over a move next season, and the 26-year-old only has 18 months left on his current deal.
However, Diario AS (h/t Daily Star) claims that Madrid would offer a new contract to former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric.
The Croatian had a wonderful summer, taking the national team to the finals of the World Cup and winning the Ballon d’Or. The report adds that Modric was contemplating leaving the Madrid giants, with Inter Milan interested in his services.
Mauricio Pochettino had claimed that Eriksen had the right to choose where his future lies, but the latest report will come as a massive boost as we need to keep the Dane at all costs.
Eriksen is one of the most gifted players in the Premier League and although he has had an inconsistent season, the Dane is one of our match winners. The midfielder’s season has been hampered by injuries but we need to tie him down to a new contract soon.

Eriksen has 4 goals and 9 assists for Spurs in all competitions this season, and more can be expected as we get into the business end of the campaign.
