Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that star striker Harry Kane can face Burnley later this month. The English striker hurt his ankle in the defeat to Manchester United and was expected to be out until March.
However, Kane has progressed faster than expected and Pochettino claimed the staff have to keep the Englishman controlled so that he doesn’t push himself too hard (h/t Mirror):
“We have to stop him every day, because he wants to be ahead of his recovery. He’s very optimistic and his determination to play as soon as possible is unbelievable.”
The Argentine added that Kane was doing well and was almost ready to play, but he also insisted the club has to make the right decision:
“He is close to coming back. Not for Sunday [vs Leicester], not for Wednesday [vs Borussia Dortmund], but we will see after. Burnley is a possibility.”
This comes as a major boost for Tottenham going into the final stretch of the campaign. Spurs have done alright without the Englishman leading the line, thanks to Son Heung-min.
The South Korean scored in the late wins over Newcastle and Watford and will be aiming to do that against Leicester too.
Having Kane back for the second leg of the Champions League tie against Dortmund is great and hopefully, the Englishman takes us to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Another player out with an injury is Dele Alli, and it will be interesting to see when the former MK Dons star makes a return to the side.
