Tottenham transfer news: Liverpool enter race to sign Tottenham target Matthias Ginter

Liverpool are the latest to be linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, according to Calciomercato (h/t Daily Star).

The German has been excellent for Monchengladbach over the years and the report claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Ginter for the second time.

The Liverpool manager got the defender during his time at Borussia Dortmund, and the report adds that Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested in the 25-year-old.

The centre-back has 20 games for Monchengladbach this season and could be a decent signing for any of the Premier League clubs interested in the German.

Tottenham would be a great club for Ginter

The German has the potential to become a world-class defender, and it will be interesting to see if he leaves the Bundesliga for a Premier League side.

Liverpool and Tottenham both can do with more options at the back. The pair have given chances to young players too, and if Ginter wants to develop his skills, there is no better team than Spurs.

Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth have developed well under Mauricio Pochettino. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are world class defenders but we need to plan for a future without the pair too.

Mauricio Pochettino has done a wonderful job during his time in London and has made Spurs competitive. We haven’t signed any player for two windows, but that cannot take place in the summer window.
