Latest Tottenham news: Danny Rose highlights half-time team-talk that led to in North London derby

Danny Rose has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino gave one of the best half-time team-talks to send Tottenham into the battle against Arsenal.

Spurs were on the brink of losing a third Premier League game in a row as they were trailing 1-0 at half-time. However, Rose claimed the Argentine’s team-talk almost sent them to war (h/t Mirror):

“The manager said some things at half-time and that was the turning point, because he’s usually really calm and collected. He normally talks to us at half-time. This time it was like he was really sending us to war.

“That was one of the best things I’ve witnessed in football, his half-time team-talk. It’s one of the best team-talks I’ve been involved in since I’ve been playing football.”

The Englishman added that Pochettino is normally a calm figure but that he was really passionate when delivering the speech.

The left-back claimed the team was fired up after Poch’s words and Rose even was shifted to the midfield as we searched for an equaliser against Arsenal. Spurs got the equaliser from Harry Kane and had Hugo Lloris to thank for saving a stoppage-time penalty.

Tottenham’s plans change

Rose further claimed that the target for Tottenham had changed in recent weeks as a fight for the top four is on. Tottenham are just three points ahead of Manchester United, who are placed fourth and have a four-point gap over Arsenal.

Spurs were in with a shout of winning the league, but consecutive losses to Burnley and Chelsea put our title hopes to bed. The team lies 10 points behind leaders Manchester City with nine games left in the campaign.

Tottenham have a great chance of making it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They hold a 3-0 lead after the first-leg and should see out the second-leg in Germany.
