Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham ratings: Tottenham player ratings

Tottenham were impressive in their second leg tie against Borussia Dortmund as they came out 1-0 winners in Germany.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men held a 3-0 advantage after the first leg, and as expected, Dortmund came out flying in the first half.

Hugo Lloris made some smart saves while Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez did their best to keep the Germans out.

Spurs did well to soak up the pressure and hit them on the counter. And our game plan worked perfectly at the start of the second half as Harry Kane scored to give us the lead.

Dortmund huffed and puffed but could not blow our house down, and Tottenham had a fantastic European night to celebrate.

There were many heroes on the pitch on Tuesday, and here are the player ratings.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris – 9.5/10

This was a reminder of how good Lloris is. The Frenchman made a great stop on the line in the first half and was excellent in keeping Dortmund out all night.

Jan Vertonghen – 9/10

The Belgian made a great tackle early on to stop Marco Reus from giving the Germans the lead, another fantastic night from Vertonghen.

Davinson Sanchez – 8.5/10

Sanchez also was brilliant at the back and dealt with everything that Dortmund threw at him.

Toby Alderweireld – 8.5/10

Alderweireld might not have had those key moments in the game, but he did a great job at the back too.

Ben Davies – 8.5/10

There is some concern regarding Davies taking on quick players, but the Welshman did a great job in keeping Jadon Sancho in check.

Serge Aurier – 8/10

The right-back didn’t have the greatest of starts to the game but grew into the tie as the minutes ticked by.

Harry Winks – 7/10

This was another typical Winks performance as he kept things tidy in the middle of the park, but had to leave with an injury.

Moussa Sissoko – 8.5/10

Sissoko was all energy in the middle of the park and set up Kane for the winner. The Frenchman is having a fantastic season, and this was another brilliant performance.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

Eriksen didn’t have a great game and was marshalled well by the Dortmund midfield.

Son Heung-min – 7/10

The South Korean had a great chance to score in the first half but couldn’t get the job done. However, Son was full of running in the game.

Harry Kane – 8.5/10

The Englishman needed just one chance to make Dortmund pay, and what a finish it was. Kane held the ball up well and once again proved why he could be the best striker in the world.

Substitutes

Eric Dier – 6/10

The Englishman did what was expected from him when he came on and tried to stop Dortmund from creating chances.

Erik Lamela – 6/10

Lamela also tried to keep Dortmund in check and got into some quality positions too.
