Latest Tottenham news: Ryan Mason to be in dugout for first test event at new stadium
Former Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason will be in the dugout for the first test event at the new stadium.
A release from the club’s website adds that Mason has been working on his coaching badges, and will join John McDermott on the sidelines of our U18 game against Southampton.
The clash is the first of two test events and is scheduled for 24 March. The release adds that Mason has been in and around the youth coaching staff since his retirement from football.
A Tottenham man through and through
Mason rose through the Spurs academy and became a member of the first-team under Mauricio Pochettino in 2015.
The English midfielder made 70 senior appearances for the team before joining Hull City in 2016.
A nasty head injury forced the midfielder into an early retirement but the love of the game keeps bringing him back.
Mason further spoke about the event and stated that he was honoured to be part of the first game (h/t Tottenhamhotspur.com):
“It’s a great privilege for our group of players and staff to have the honour of participating in the first game in the new stadium.”
The former midfielder added that he felt fortunate to be part of this event and was filled with excitement ahead of the test.
Mason was one of the most popular players during his spell at Spurs and many fans were happy that the midfielder was part of the event.

What a great touch by spurs to make Ryan mason apart of the first test event played at the new stadium, people forget but if it wasn’t for players like mason, Kane, bentaleb etc poch would of lost the dressing room and his job #OneOfOurOwn
