Spurs transfer news: Nicolas Tagliafico rejects new deal with Ajax

Tottenham have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Nicolas Tagliafico of Ajax. The Sun reports that the Argentine defender is surely on his way out of the club after rejecting a new deal with the Dutch giants.

The report adds that Arsenal are also targeting the 26-year-old who has been one of the stars in Ajax’s season.

Ajax want to keep hold of the defender but his agent, Ricardo Schlieper, told Muy Independiente (h/t Sun):

“Ajax made an economic offer to match what the clubs claiming to Nicolas could afford, but it was not accepted because it is the just time to take a leap.

“Let’s see what happens in the market.”

The report adds that Atletico Madrid and a host of other European sides are tracking the 26-year-old.

Danny Rose’s future up in the air?

Tagliafico has been brilliant for Ajax and has five goals and three assists to his name this season. The left-back even played for Argentina in their 3-1 loss to Venezuela during the international break.

The Sun claims that Tottenham are looking to strengthen the left side of the team next season with doubts over Danny Rose’s future.

The English defender has had an inconsistent season and has also had his injury concerns. Ben Davies hasn’t always been at his best either, and Tagliafico could be a decent signing for Tottenham.

We have bought players from Ajax in the past and hopefully, this relationship comes to use as we target the Argentine left-back.
