Sissoko gets 8/10, Son a 7/10 – How the Spurs players rated in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at the new stadium

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace ratings: Tottenham player ratings

Tottenham moved back into third place in the Premier League with their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but this was a special night as a new era dawned on the London club.

Spurs finally played a senior game in their new home ground, and it was worth the wait as Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen got the goals in an important win.

Tottenham hadn’t picked up three points from a Premier League game in five outings, but this performance should calm their nerves for the final set of clashes.

Palace had their opportunities to score but they seem to be affected by the stadium opening, which was spectacular.

There could be more magic at the stadium with the Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester City next, but for now, here are the player ratings for the Spurs players.

Tottenham player ratings

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

This was a comfortable night for Lloris, after his error at Anfield. The captain was barely troubled until the second half where he made a couple of quality saves.

Kieran Trippier – 7/10

A decent performance from Trippier after some tough outings in recent weeks. Barely gave Wilfried Zaha a look at the goal.

Toby Alderweireld – 7/10

Another typical performance from Alderweireld at the back. Toby barely broke a sweat and looked in good touch.

Jan Vertonghen – 7.5/10

Toby’s partner at the back also had a decent game and ensured that the Palace strikers didn’t have a sniff at Lloris’ goal for most of the game.

Ben Davies – 7/10

The Welsh defender had one brilliant tackle to show and did a decent job with Danny Rose ahead of him.

Moussa Sissoko – 8/10

Possibly the best player on the night, Sissoko was everywhere on the pitch, in a good way, and kept Palace in control for most of the game.

Dele Alli – 6.5/10

Alli was played in a deeper role than usual, and the Englishman did a decent job as Spurs came out with the win.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

A much better performance from the Dane as he was great in the first half. Eriksen was the only one alive to the ball when Harry Kane’s shot was blocked and the Dane made no mistake to score our second goal.

Son Heung-min – 7/10

Tottenham could not have had a more popular first goal scorer at the new ground than Son. The South Korean’s deflected shot went past the Palace keeper, but no one will care as Son made history.

Danny Rose – 6/10

It was a bit of a surprise seeing Rose start on the wing, but the Englishman carried on from his second half performance at Anfield. There wasn’t a lot of quality from Rose in the final third but this was a decent outing.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Kane tried his best to get on the scoresheet but sometimes things don’t go your way. The England captain had a role to play in our second goal but had a header go wide and also curled a shot above the bar when it looked like he would score.

Harry Winks – 6/10

Winks needed some minutes after being out for a while, and this run should do him good for the remainder of the season.

Lucas Moura – 5/10

The Brazilian was one of our better players against Liverpool and saw a great effort saved by the Palace keeper late on.

Levy seems to have worked his magic as Tottenham are set to land English starlet for £8.5m

Spurs transfer news: Tottenham set to land Jack Clarke for £8.5m from Leeds United

The Sun reports that Tottenham have haggled their way to an £8.5m deal for Jack Clarke.

The 18-year-old broke into the Leeds first-team last season under Marcelo Bielsa and made 25 appearances in all competitions.

The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino wants more options in the attack and Leeds have to maintain their finances.

Leeds have included add-ons to the deal for Clarke, according to the report, and Spurs could send the English youngster back on loan at the Championship side.

Clarke scored two goals and provided a couple of assists last season as Leeds missed out on Premier League promotion.

Levy works his magic on a deal

Daniel Levy is known for trying to get the best deal possible for the club, and signing Clarke for £8.5m would an amazing bit of business.

Sending him back on loan makes sense as he needs more starts to continue his development, and working under Bielsa could see him flourish further.

The Englishman is one of the highest-rated players in the Championship, and the Express had earlier reported that Spurs were set to splash £15m for the 18-year-old.

Italian giants consider signing 22-year-old Tottenham target on a two-year deal

Spurs transfer news: AC Milan trying to sign Dani Ceballos on a two-year deal

Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato) claims that AC Milan’s top executives will try to negotiate a deal for Dani Ceballos.

The Real Madrid starlet is away on U21 Euro duty with Spain, and the report adds that Milan see the 22-year-old as a prime target but only in the right deal.

The report adds that Milan met with representatives from Real this week and discussed deals for five players.

However, Ceballos is the focus for Milan, and the report claims that the Spaniard is valued at €45m-€50m, which is a problem for the Italian giants.

Milan want to sign the youngster on a two-year loan deal with Ceballos possibly joining after the spell, according to the report.

Tottenham have also been linked with the Spanish star, and it will be interesting to see where Ceballos lands up next season.

Tottenham could lose one star for Ceballos

The Spanish star fell down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and was offered to Tottenham by the La Liga side in a deal for Christian Eriksen (h/t Sun).

The Dane is out of a contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign a new deal with Spurs.

Ceballos is a star for the future but isn’t on the same level as Eriksen. The Spaniard can play as a central attacking midfielder and can do a job on the wings too.

Real were offering a decent sum and Ceballos for Eriksen, and accepting that deal would be better than losing the Dane on a free.

Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in 19-year-old starlet Rekeem Harper

The Mirror reports that Tottenham are interested in West Bromwich Albion’s 19-year-old midfielder Rekeem Harper.

The report adds that the teenager is out of a contract at the end of the month, and has not been able to agree on a new deal with West Brom.

The Baggies lost out on the race for Premier League promotion last season, and it is to be seen how they strengthen the team for the upcoming campaign.

However, the report claims that West Brom could lose Harper for a small compensation fee, with Liverpool and Juventus also interested in the 19-year-old.

The English midfielder played 23 times for the Baggies last season and recorded a goal and an assist in the Championship.

Harper has been at the club since the age of 12, and it will be interesting to see if he decides to leave the club in the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders with young players

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has a history of working well with young players, and Harper could be another starlet that reaches his potential under the Argentine.

The best example of Pochettino doing well is with Dele Alli, as the former MK Dons star is now an England international.
