Latest Spurs news: Vincent Janssen makes first senior appearance for Tottenham in win over Brighton

Tottenham were finding it difficult to score against Brighton last night. The away side were defending doggedly and a late Christian Eriksen goal helped us defeat the Seagulls.

The win was important in our chase for a top four spot, and now we hold a three-point lead over Chelsea.

There was relief in the ground once Eriksen’s strike went in but Mauricio Pochettino tried to change things up before the goal.

Son Heung-min and Fernando Llorente both started for Spurs against Brighton. The pair were unable to do much in the Brighton box, and Pochettino brought on the forgotten man Vincent Janssen for Lucas Moura.

A surprise move by Poch

Pochettino’s options were limited due to Harry Kane’s injury, and Janssen had a couple of telling touches in the game.

The 24-year-old Dutch striker spent last season with Fenerbahce and this was his first game for the senior Spurs side this season.

Janssen has had a tough time since signing from AZ Alkmaar and has recorded just two Premier League goals for us in his career.

The Guardian earlier reported that Tottenham would listen to offers for Janssen once the season ends.

This move might not have been right for both player and club, however, many Tottenham fans posted some hilarious reactions as the 24-year-old was brought on against Brighton.
