Spurs transfer news: Tottenham won’t move for Wilfried Zaha until asking price is reduced

Wilfried Zaha is one of the best attackers playing for a non-top six Premier League side. The Crystal Palace winger has helped the Eagles to safety, once again, and has been excellent throughout the campaign.

The Ivorian has nine goals and three assists in the Premier League and the Daily Star reports that Tottenham have a long-standing interest in the former Manchester United star.

Zaha didn’t do all that well at the Theatre of Dreams but his move to Palace has worked out well. The report adds that Zaha went public recently about playing Champions League football.

Crystal Palace’s asking price is steep

The Daily Star adds that Arsenal are also interested in Zaha while United have watched their former star recently. However, none of the three Premier League clubs will move for him until Palace reduce their asking price.

The report claims that the Eagles have to lower their £75m asking price for their prized possession if he is to move away from Selhurst Park.

Even with the interest from other Premier League clubs, Roy Hodgson wanted to keep hold of Zaha (h/t Daily Star):

“I’m looking forward to working with him not only in the near future, but I’m looking forward to seeing him in the Crystal Palace shirt for many years to come.”

Zaha was great in Palace’s 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates. The Ivorian toyed with the Arsenal defence for much of the game and even scored a goal in the win.

Tottenham need fresh faces in the summer and an attacker should be on Mauricio Pochettino’s shopping list.

The current asking price for Zaha seems a little excessive, however, he is quality and should improve under the right manager at a bigger club.
