Spurs transfer news: Roma could be forced to sell stars should they fail to reach Champions League

Il Messagero (h/t Calciomercato) claims that AS Roma could be forced to sell two of their stars from Cengiz Under, Nicolo Zaniolo, Kostas Manolas and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The report claims that AS Roma not qualifying for the Champions League could lead to them selling a couple of their stars.

Nicolo Zaniolo

Tottenham have been linked with Zaniolo recently, and the report claims that Roma would need to bring in between €45m€50m to make up the funds from not reaching the Champions League.

Roma lie fifth in the Serie A and are three points behind Atalanta in the race for the fourth spot.

Zaniolo could be a star in the making

The 19-year-old Zaniolo has been great for Roma this season with six goals and two assists in all competitions.

The Italian youngster can play on the right flank or as a centre-forward, and got a couple of substitute appearances for the national side this season.

The report claims that Spurs could make a move for the 19-year-old in the summer, and we could be in a better position to make a deal should Roma miss out on the Champions League.

We are almost certain of playing in Europe’s premier club competition next season unless there is an eight-goal swing in favour of Arsenal on the final day.

Spurs also have the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Ajax on Wednesday, and we have to overturn a 1-0 deficit to make it into the final.
