“Please be true”, “I’ll drive him there” – Some Spurs fans can’t wait to see the end of this star linked with Serie A giants

Latest Spurs news: Several fans want Kieran Trippier sold as Napoli links emerge

Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the Italian giants are looking into Kieran Trippier and Hirving Lozano as possible transfers.

The Italian spoke before the clash against Cagliari on Sunday, but did not confirm if the club would sign the English defender (h/t Sky Sports):

“All I can say is that they’re both [Trippier and Lozano] players we’re evaluating.

“So, to be honest, I can only confirm our appreciation of the player. Now we have to start proceeding with the analysis.”

The Tottenham defender has struggled this season despite a fantastic World Cup with England.

The Three Lions reached the semi-finals with Trippier being one of the best defenders in the tournament.

However, the former Burnley star has made several mistakes for Spurs which have proved to be costly this season.

Tottenham’s right-back problem

Sky Italy (h/t Sky Sports) claims that the 28-year-old is a target for Napoli, but Trippier is still our first-choice right-back.

The other options we have in the first-team are Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters. The pair haven’t impressed this season and the Ivorian has spent a lot of time on the treatment table.

Trippier for a fee of £3.5m in 2015 from Burnley (h/t Sky Sports) and had been a decent right-back for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Englishman has made errors in the past but this season has been difficult for all at Tottenham.

Spurs should just about finish in the top four and are in the Champions League semi-finals, but we lost 13 games in the Premier League this season.

Trippier isn’t the only player having a below-par season, and many fans were willing to see the end of the Englishman as they learned about the Napoli links.

Latest Spurs news: Harry Winks believes trophies will come soon at Tottenham

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks believes trophies are just around the corner under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs dealt with Champions League heartbreak last month when they lost to Liverpool in the final.

The last trophy Spurs have won was the League Cup in 2008, but have made great strides under the Argentine boss.

Tottenham have been contenders for the Premier League title a couple of times and are regulars in the Champions League now.

However, Winks was certain silverware was coming soon and added that there is a long-term plan for the club (h/t BBC):

“As long as we keep believing in what we have to do… I’m sure [trophies] are round the corner.

“Everybody is ambitious in the squad.

“Of course there comes a time when players want to start winning trophies. But there is a bigger picture at Tottenham.”

Winks signed a new five-year deal in the summer and is part of the Asia tour where we face Juventus and Manchester United.

Pochettino has worked his magic at Spurs

Winks highlighted the great “family” atmosphere Pochettino has created at the London club and added there were “no big egos” with everyone getting along well.

The English midfielder added that he wants to stay on after getting his break when he was 17 and lauded the incredible talent at the club.

Tottenham have grown under Pochettino but we do need to get some silverware next season.

Tanguy Ndombele is an incredible signing for Spurs, and hopefully, we get more players to increase our strength.

Spurs transfer news: Paris Saint-Germain interested in Tottenham’s Danny Rose

Sky Sports claims that Paris Saint-Germain are leading a list of clubs interested in signing Danny Rose.

The 29-year-old Tottenham star has not travelled with the side to Asia as he seeks a potential move away from the club.

Rose was the first-choice left-back for Tottenham last season, and the report claims that the Englishman will leave if a suitable offer comes in.

Tottenham are looking to get £20m from the former Leeds United defender, who joined them in 2007 for £1m (h/t Sky Sports).

There is interest from Bundesliga club Schalke too for the defender, and the report adds that Rose is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Getting £20m from Rose would be a decent bit of business for Spurs, and we have already sold one full-back in the summer.

Kieran Trippier left Spurs to join Atletico Madrid, and this leaves us with Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as the recognised senior right-backs.

Spurs need to sign another left-back in the summer

Losing Rose in the summer would reduce our options for the left-back position.

Ben Davies

Ben Davies is the only senior defender who can play in that position, and the Welshman signed a long-term deal with Tottenham recently.

However, we cannot go into the season just relying on the Welsh defender.

The report claims that Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is seen as the replacement for Rose, should the Englishman leave Spurs.

Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in signing Kieran Tierney

The Scotsman (h/t Sun) claims that Tottenham could move for Kieran Tierney of Celtic.

The 22-year-old has been one of Celtic’s most impressive players in recent years, and the left-back played 40 games for the Scottish giants last season.

The report adds that Arsenal are interested in the 22-year-old but Tottenham could swoop for Tierney if the Gunners do not stump up £25m.

Kieran Tierney

Tottenham could do with another defender coming in, with the club confirming that Danny Rose has not travelled for the Asia tour.

The English left-back will try to finalise a move away from Spurs in the summer, and the report claims that Ryan Sessegnon is another target for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Tierney was linked with Spurs last season

Celtic rejected a £15m bid from Arsenal, and the Scottish defender was linked with a move to Tottenham in the previous summer (h/t Sun).

The 22-year-old would be a great replacement for Rose, and it will be interesting to see who we land in the summer.

Losing Rose would see Tottenham left with just Ben Davies as a senior left-back.

Sessegnon has tons of potential and knows the English game well, but he didn’t have a great Premier League campaign last time around.

Tierney has played more topflight games than Sessegnon, however, the Scottish Premiership is not at the same level as the Premier League.

Spurs transfer news: Vertonghen wants to stay at Tottenham next season

Tottenham have been handed a boost ahead of the new season with Jan Vertonghen claiming that he wants to stay at the club.

The former Ajax star has just 12 months left on his current deal, and the Evening Standard reports that there is uncertainty regarding the futures of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld.

The two players also have just 12 months remaining on their respective deals, but Vertonghen is happy at Tottenham and added that it is the best club to play for (h/t Evening Standard):

“I’ve got a year left, I will have to see what happens.

“I love being here. I feel great with the manager, he’s been supporting me and making me a better player. I’ve got everything I want. It’s the best club to play for at the moment.”

The Belgian is currently with the team in Singapore as a part of their Asia tour where they face Juventus.

The next game is against Manchester United in Shanghai, scheduled for next Thursday.

Tottenham need to sort out the futures of the other players

Vertonghen wanting to stay at the club is great news ahead of the campaign, but there has to be clarity on the futures of Eriksen and Alderweireld.

Losing them now would be a blow but we would be guaranteed a decent amount for two of the best in the Premier League.

The worst outcome would be keeping them on their current deals and losing them for nothing at the end of the next season.
