Spurs transfer news: Tim Sherwood wants Jack Grealish to replace Christian Eriksen
Former Tottenham captain and manager Tim Sherwood believes Jack Grealish could replace Christian Eriksen, should the Dane leave the club.
Football.london reports that Eriksen is being linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Dane has been one of the best players at Tottenham since his move from Ajax, and he would be a difficult player to replace.
However, Sherwood has worked with Grealish in the past and claimed the Aston Villa man could do a job for Spurs.
The former Tottenham star told Bwin (h/t Football.london):
“I would like to see Tottenham sign Jack Grealish this summer.
“I think Grealish is worth the £30-40 million that Sessegnon was rumoured to be worth last year.”
Sherwood claimed Grealish could take that next step and play alongside better players at Tottenham.
“If Eriksen were to leave this summer, I think Tottenham should consider looking at Grealish as his replacement.”
Villa’s promotion push could be a problem for Spurs
Grealish has helped Villa to the playoffs as they look to the Premier League next season. Sherwood added that the English youngster isn’t on the same level as Eriksen but has the same “work ethic and desire” to help him improve.
Sherwood further claimed that Villa’s promotion hopes could play a spoiler into the possible move:
“The only problem is that Tottenham will not stand a chance of signing Jack Grealish if Aston Villa get promoted to the Premier League.”
Villa play West Brom for a place in the final where they could face either Leeds United or Derby County.
Grealish has done well for the Villans this season and the 23-year-old could develop further under Mauricio Pochettino.

The midfielder has racked up six goals and six assists in the league this season, and it will be interesting to see if Villa return to the Premier League next season.
