Latest Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino confident of Dele Alli facing Liverpool

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was confident that star attacker Dele Alli would face Liverpool on 1st June.

Spurs face the Reds in the Champions League final in Madrid but the Englishman was replaced at half-time in our final game of the Premier League season.

We finished the campaign with a 2-2 draw at home as Christian Eriksen scored the equaliser in the second half.

Alli has had his injury concerns this season but Pochettino was confident the Englishman’s substitution was not related to a problem (h/t Sky Sports):

“He didn’t start in the warm-up, he was feeling strange and then his performance was very poor in the first half because he can’t cope with the situation.

“So because of caution, he was out. I think it is not a problem. We need to assess him, but I think he was tired, but for the circumstance again we played with him.”

The Argentine claimed that he would not have started Alli in normal circumstances but withdrew the star before something serious happened.

Tottenham need their stars to be fit

The clash against Liverpool will be our biggest in decades and we need all the help we can get. Harry Kane and Harry Winks are also looking to regain fitness for the final against the Reds.

Liverpool have had an excellent season where they missed out on the Premier League title despite scoring 97 points.

However, we gave them a run for their money in the away game this season. The Reds won via an own goal from us, and no one can rule us out in a European tie.

Wins over Manchester City, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund prove that we can do it on the big stage and we should have one more big push to land the Champions League crown.
