Spurs transfer news: Manchester United unsure about Toby Alderweireld due to player’s age

Tottenham could be handed a boost in keeping Toby Alderweireld out of Manchester United’s clutches next season.

The Independent claims that Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign a centre-back in the summer.

The United defence has been in shambles this season and the club is unsure about moving for Toby Alderweireld due to the defender being 30 years old, according to the Independent.

Kalidou Koulibaly is extremely expensive while the other players linked with United are Harry Maguire and Milan Skriniar, according to the Independent.

Toby available on the cheap in the summer

The Belgian would be available for £25m in the summer, and Football.London adds that the defender has been linked with a move to United for some time.

Toby’s age seems to be a problem for the Red Devils and hopefully, we can keep the Belgian after the summer transfer window.

Spurs need to work on a new deal and have to keep Alderweireld for as long as possible.

The defender has played 48 games for us this season and is one of the few stars who have not suffered a major injury.

The 30-year-old has been a rock at the back for us since signing for the club, and he could lead us to Champions League glory on June 1.

Spurs face Liverpool in Madrid in the Champions League final and Alderweireld has to be at his best against the Reds in 15 days’ time.
