Latest Spurs news: Tottenham unhappy with fine handed out to Barcelona by UEFA
Tottenham are unhappy with the fine handed out to Barcelona by UEFA after the away fans were hit by some Nou Camp staff in the 1-1 draw.
The BBC reports that the La Liga champions were fined €20,000 for “insufficient organisation” at the Nou Camp during that tie.
There were some videos posted online highlighting how some of the Barcelona staff also hit some of the fans with batons.
Tottenham did not believe the punishment was enough to deter such actions again, and issued a strong statement ahead of the Champions League final (h/t BBC):
“We have grave concerns that the punishment imposed will not act as enough of a deterrent to avoid a repeat.
“The treatment our fans was completely unacceptable, something Uefa has acknowledged, and some are still recovering as a result of this ordeal.”
The Champions League finalists added that no supporters should have to “experience” the events that our fans had to go through at the Nou Camp.
Tottenham also handed punishment by UEFA
The report adds that Tottenham were handed a fine by UEFA for a delayed start against Ajax in the semi-final first leg and Mauricio Pochettino was given a one-match ban.
However, that punishment has been suspended for a year and the Argentine should be on the touchline against Liverpool on 1st June.
