Spurs transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino will decide his future after the Champions League final

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino once again spoke about his future and claimed it depended on what the club’s ambitions are.

The Argentine has led Spurs to the final of the Champions League and we are regular top four finishers under the former Southampton manager.

However, Spurs haven’t spent any money in two transfer windows while all our rivals have strengthened their sides.

Spurs finished a distant fourth behind the top two in the Premier League this season, and Poch spoke during an interview with El Partidazo de Cope about learning of Tottenham’s ambitions next season before making a decision (h/t Mirror):

“I will not make decisions about my future (until) after the final, it is important to know what the club’s future plan is.

“If we want to return to the Champions League final next year and fight with Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title, we need reinforcements.”

The manager added that City’s ambition was to win the Champions League while we had to finish the stadium. Spurs moved into their new home a few weeks ago, and the Argentine also provided an update on Real Madrid.

Poch spoke with Perez

The Argentine spoke about his links with Real Madrid and admitted he had been in contact with president Florentino Perez:

“Real Madrid? I have no other goals if I am not training Tottenham; football takes you where you deserve. Ahead of the final, we will train at Valdebebas and sleep in a nearby hotel.

“I asked Florentino to let us sleep in the sports center, but he told me that I can only sleep there when I become the coach of Real Madrid.”

Thankfully, Real have already signed Zinedine Zidane as their manager though the Frenchman left before the start of this season. It would be crazy if they sacked Zidane to replace him with Pochettino, but the Argentine has been linked with Juventus (h/t Mirror) in recent weeks.

The Italian giants decided to part ways with Max Allegri despite the Italian winning the Serie A in every season in charge.

Spurs have to spend to keep hold of Pochettino and hopefully, that does not depend on us lifting the Champions League crown.
