Spurs transfer news: West Ham bid £18million for Spurs target Andre Gomes
The Times (h/t Football.london) reports that West Ham United have entered the race for Andre Gomes and have bid £18million for the Portuguese midfielder.
The report claims that Tottenham are interested in the Barcelona star who spent last season on loan at Everton.
After a difficult two months or so for the midfielder, Gomes became one of the best players under Marco Silva and put up several quality displays for the Toffees.
The 25-year-old might not be in the plans of the Catalan giants next season and it will be interesting to see where his future lies.
Tottenham could use a quality midfielder
Tottenham have been stretched this season due to several injuries to their first-team. Most of the players have spent some time on the treatment table and our midfield certainly has been affected a lot.
Harry Winks, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier have all missed over a couple of months due to injuries while Christian Eriksen returned from the World Cup carrying a knock.
We have been a little lucky with Moussa Sissoko’s rise in form and the fact that he has been fit for almost the entire season.
Spurs sold Mousa Dembele in the winter window and did not sign a replacement for the Belgian.

Gomes isn’t the flashiest player on the pitch but he gets the job done. Mauricio Pochettino could develop the former Valencia man further should we end up signing the 25-year-old in the summer.
