Latest Spurs news: Ben Davies to undergo hernia operation and miss games for Wales

Tottenham left-back Ben Davies will miss two of Wales’ Euro 2020 qualifiers in June as he will undergo a hernia operation.

The 26-year-old is currently with the Tottenham side preparing for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Davies could play a part for us in the final but Mauricio Pochettino should start Danny Rose as the left-back against the Reds.

Wales face Croatia and Hungary on 8th and 11th June respectively, and Davies has been playing with pain throughout the season (h/t BBC).

Davies might require six weeks to return after operation

The report adds that the recovery period after a hernia operation is six weeks and Davies will go under the knife next week, thus ruling him out of the two clashes for Wales.

The 26-year-old has been involved in a battle with Rose for the left-back slot in the starting XI and the Englishman has been preferred in recent weeks.

Davies does have 41 appearances for Tottenham this season with just one assist to his name in the campaign. The Welsh attacker getting some time off after the operation would be good for us heading into next season.

Most of Tottenham’s players had a long summer thanks to the World Cup in 2018, and it is imperative that some of them get time off before returning to club action.
