Spurs transfer news: Giovani lo Celso wants to join Tottenham from Real Betis
The Daily Mirror (h/t Daily Star) reports that Argentine sensation Giovani lo Celso is trying to force a move to Tottenham from Real Betis.
The 23-year-old was on loan at Betis last season from Paris Saint-Germain and the report claims that the La Liga side opted to sign the Argentine for £20m.
Lo Celso is a part of the Argentine side for the Copa America and racked up 16 goals and 5 assists for Betis last season. Betis want £70m for their star, according to the report, while Tottenham have seen a £62m bid rejected by the Spanish club.
Tottenham need to up the ante for Lo Celso’s signing
Betis have to pay PSG a sell-on fee, and the report claims that Lo Celso has a release clause of £80m.
However, Tottenham believe they can sign the Argentine attacker for a lower amount (h/t Daily Star), and it will be interesting to see how things proceed regarding Lo Celso’s future.
The 23-year-old could be a great signing for Spurs but spending huge on a player with no Premier League experience is a bit risky.
However, Tottenham have to spend in the summer in order to strengthen the side. Mauricio Pochettino didn’t sign a player in two transfer windows but needs to be backed with some new faces.

Lo Celso is an expensive purchase but if Pochettino wants the Argentine to join him, Spurs should do all they can to sign the 23-year-old.
