Spurs transfer news: Donny van de Beek speaks about Barcelona links but isn’t revealing where his future lies

Calciomercato reports that Tottenham target Donny van de Beek has spoken about his future and claimed there have been no bids for his services.

Van de Beek was one of the stars for the Dutch side as they lifted the Eredivisie but lost in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The 22-year-old scored the only goal of the game at the new Tottenham stadium before Lucas Moura knocked the Dutch side out in Amsterdam.

Van de Beek scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists for the Dutch giants last season, and was quoted as saying (h/t Calciomercato):

“It is not true that there have already been offers for me, so many things have come out in the newspapers, but I know nothing.”

The midfielder also claimed he was happy at Ajax but kept things open regarding his future:

“I have a contract with Ajax and here I am happy. Clearly, it is nice to hear my name compared to that of Barcelona but what I want is to keep playing and improving. We’ll see what happens in the summer, nobody knows what the future holds.”

Ajax have several top players currently, with Frenkie de Jong joining Barcelona next season.

Van de Beek won’t come on the cheap

The report claims that Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in the 22-year-old, however, Van de Beek would cost around €50million.

The 22-year-old would be a great addition to Tottenham, and Mauricio Pochettino can work his magic and improve the Dutch star further. Spurs need to sign a midfielder in the summer as we are a little thin in that position.

Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama struggled with injuries and form last season, and we were lucky that Moussa Sissoko was in decent form for the entire campaign.
