Spurs transfer news: Tottenham close to signing Portuguese talent Bruno Fernandes

Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Express) claims that Tottenham are close to signing Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.

The 24-year-old had an excellent campaign for Sporting, scoring 28 goals in all competitions. The attacking midfielder even got a place in the Nations League squad for the finals and played against Switzerland.

The report claims that Sporting are willing to sell their star but for the right price. Any deal for Fernandes would cost more than £60m and Mauricio Pochettino sees the Portuguese star as a replacement for Christian Eriksen (h/t Express).

The Dane expressed his desire to leave Spurs and try a new challenge after the Champions League defeat to Liverpool.

Spurs to beat a Premier League side for Fernandes

The report adds that Tottenham and Manchester United are the only clubs with a meaningful bid for Fernandes, however, Spurs have the upper hand, thanks to Champions League football next season.

Manchester City and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Fernandes and it will be interesting to see if we can complete the signing of the 24-year-old.

Tottenham turned their attention to the 24-year-old after failing with a bid to sign Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso, according to the Express.

Spurs need another attacking midfielder in the team as several players were below par in the second half of last season.

Fernandes seems to be a special player and could be a great signing for us.
