Spurs transfer news: Tottenham target Dani Ceballos open to leave Real Madrid for more football
Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has hinted that he could leave Real Madrid in search of first-team football. The 22-year-old made 13 La Liga starts for Real last season and was preferred by former manager Julen Lopetegui.
Zinedine Zidane replacing Lopetegui cut Ceballos’ minutes in the first-team and Real have spent big on signing Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard this summer so far.
The Spanish midfielder could fall down the pecking order once a new midfielder comes in, according to the Metro, and claimed his future will be decided after the U21 Euros.
Speaking to Onda Cero Radio, Ceballos admitted he could leave for more first-team football (h/t Metro):
“I started well under [Julen] Lopetegui, but once he was fired, I, unfortunately, became secondary.”
The Spaniard did not open up about his discussions with Zidane but wanted more minutes:
“I’m not going to say what was said regarding my talk with Zidane but what I can say is that he was clear with me and once the Euro U21 is over, I will decide my future.
“My aim is to play wherever I go and prove that I can compete in any team in Europe. I hope to succeed because nothing is going to defeat me.”
Tottenham interested in Ceballos
The Metro claims that Tottenham see Ceballos as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen. The Dane is out of a contract at the end of next season and recently claimed he wanted to try something else.
Ceballos mostly plays as a central attacking midfielder but can do a job in the wide positions too.

The 22-year-old scored four goals in all competitions for Real last season and it is to be seen what happens with Eriksen and Ceballos in the summer window.
